Dunshaughlin Library Thursday 19th October, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. 

Dunshaughlin and District Historical Society invites you to the unveiling of an historical Parnell banner from the locality. The event will be held in Dunshaughlin Library on Thursday 19th October at 7:30pm. The Historical Society used generous funding from Meath Partnership to engage Rachel Phelan, an expert textile conservator, to prevent further damage to and deterioration of the banner. The aim was to preserve the history and look of the banner, and make it safe for display. The banner dates to the early years of twentieth century and there is a press account of its use at a fractious election meeting in Dunshaughlin in 1903 when pro and anti-Parnellite supporters clashed. It is likely that the banner predates this episode. 

The event on Thursday 19th October will consist of the unveiling of the banner and a short talk on its origin, history and conservation
