Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection Workshop

11th September OR 28th September | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom 

This workshop will highlight the measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people. This course is essential for anyone who is in contact with children in their club.

Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer Workshop

12th September OR 19th October | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom

Every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. They act as the link between the children and the adults in the club. It is essential that those who wish to attend have completed Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness Training.

Cost: €20 per person for clubs in Meath, €30 per person for clubs outside Meath. Places are limited. To book a place, please call Lynn on 046-9067887 or email lynn.oreilly@meathcoco.ie.

 

 

Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Workshop

3rd October | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom (ONLINE)

Every club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person.

It is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Child Welfare & Protection Workshop.

Sports Injuries First Aid Workshop

21st September | 6.30pm-10pm | Athboy Convent Community Centre 

This Sports Injuries First Aid Course is aimed at coaches, mentors, teachers, supervisors, players, athletes and volunteers or anyone wishing to be able to deal with minor sports injuries.

This course covers a comprehensive range of topics to prepare participants to administer First Aid care. Participants will learn practical skills so that they can deal competently with situations that may arise. On successful completion of the course, participants are issued with a First Aid Certificate of attendance.

HER OUTDOORS WEEK

To celebrate HER Outdoors Week, Meath LSP are hosting a variety of events for Women & Girls across the county. Places are still available on the following programmes:

Come & Try Rounders – Skryne GAA

Meath LSP along with Skryne GAA Rounders Club are delighted to offer a Come & Try Rounders programme suitable for women of all ages and girls 16+. This free 4-week programme will introduce you to a variety of fun ways to learn the game of rounders while incorporating all the necessary skills of the game.

Come & Try Cricket

Meath LSP are delighted to collaborate with Cricket Leinster and Knockharley Cricket Club to offer a FREE ‘Come & Try Cricket’ programme suitable for women of all ages and girls from 13yrs+. This 4-week programme will introduce you to the skills of cricket and help you experience why this sport is fast becoming so popular among women of all ages. Suitable for all ages and abilities, no previous experience required. Free of charge but registration is essential.

Soccer for Women & Girls 16+

With the Womens’ World Cup taking place, this is an ideal time to come & try soccer on one of our social soccer programmes! Rossin Rovers FC, Slane are hosting a new 6 week Come & Try soccer programme suitable for Women and girls 16+. It’s suitable for all fitness levels with no previous soccer experience required. Come along and give it a go!

Come & Try Beach Event for Women & Girls 13+ 

Activities include Beach Volleyball, Beach Handball and Rounders on Bettystown beach. This festival of events is suitable for women and girls 13+ and a great opportunity for Mums and their girls to come together & try new beach activities in a fun, inclusive environment.

Boyne Road/Ramparts Cycle

Navan Cycling Initiative will host a 14k Female Only Cycle on the Ramparts/Boyne Road loop on Wednesday 16th August. U18 must be accompanied by an adult and all bikes must be roadworthy. Meeting at the Rampart Carpark at 6.30pm. This event is for reasonably confident and competent female cyclists. If you have not been on the bike for a while you will be very welcome. We will cycle at a leisurely pace that is conducive to chat and we will be stopping mid-way for coffee/ice cream. The outbound route is on the Boyne Road. There will be NO stewarding/marshalling at junctions. The return route to Navan is by the Boyne Canal tow-path.

Activator Pole Walking – Blackwater Park, Navan

Suitable for women over 50. This FitWalk Ireland programme focuses on promoting long term fitness and independence through increasing balance and functionality. The tutor will assist participants in use of the activator poles to increase strength and improve mobility for older people.

Pop-Up Pool Oldcastle

The pop-up pool in Oldcastle runs Swimming programmes for all from children learning to swim, to adults, older adults & people with a disability.

As a thank you to the local community, Swim Ireland in association with Meath LSP are running programmes during August at a reduced rate.

Some of these programmes include:

  • Swimability
  • Parent & Toddler
  • Swimmin’ Women
  • Teen lessons & Waterpolo

Introduction to Open Water Swimming Workshops

This workshop is ideal for existing Open Water Swimmers who want to improve swimming and breathing technique, learn more about positioning in the water as well as learning all about safety in the water and considerations for different conditions. The workshop is for over 18s only and is open to all levels and abilities, but participants must be able to swim. The cost per workshop is €20 per participant. Please select only one workshop below.

Learn 2 Cycle Ashbourne

Learn 2 Cycle aims to assist children with a disability aged 5-17 years to cycle independently. This programme which is held over 6 weeks focuses on empowering parents and giving them the tools to support their child in learning to cycle. Participants will be guided by our experienced tutor from the Cycling Safety School.

Date: Thursdays September 14th – October 19th

Time: 4:30pm-5:30pm

Duration: 6 weeks

Venue: Ashbourne Community School

Cost: €15
