Patient and Service User Council – HSE Dublin and North East: Request for New Members

What is the Patient and Service User Council?

The Patient and Service User Council is a group of patients, service users, family members and staff from HSE Dublin and North East.

Their purpose is to make positive change in the health system. They do this by advising the regional leadership team.

Why are we inviting applications to join the Patient and Service User Council?

Each year we review the membership of the Council.

We want to include more diverse voices and perspectives. Based on our current membership, the Council decided to welcome applications for two new patient and service user partners

Who do we want to recruit to the Patient and Service User Council?

Eligibility: To be eligible, they must be over 18 and live in the HSE Dublin and North East region. This includes North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan.

Relevant background and experience: Based on the review of our current membership, we are inviting applications from:

1.Young people (18 – 25 years) with experience of using health and social care services, or supporting someone who has.

2.People from under-served groups, including:

•lived experience of addiction services

•lived experience of homelessness 

•refugees, applicants seeking protection 

•Traveller community 

•Roma community

•LGBTQI+ community

•Victims and survivors of domestic, sexual or gender-based violence. Services for these under-served groups are often called ‘Social Inclusion’ in the HSE
