Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection

1st November OR 21st November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom

This workshop will highlight the main principles of the Code and look at measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people. This course is essential for anyone who is in contact with children in their club.

Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer Workshop

7th November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom (ONLINE)

Every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. They act as the link between the children and the adults in the club. It is essential that those who wish to attend have completed Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness Training.

Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Workshop

24th October OR 17th November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom (ONLINE)

Every club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person.

It is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Child Welfare & Protection Workshop.

Sports Inclusion & Disability Awareness

Meath LSP in conjunction with Cavan Sports Partnership are delighted to host a Sports Inclusion and Disability Awareness Workshop on 11th October!

This FREE webinar will be delivered online and is aimed at people who are interested in taking the first step in making their activities inclusive.

0-3k Walk to Jog Programme Trim

Have you ever wanted to run a 3k or a 5k but didn’t know where to start? This is the programme for you!!

Meath LSP in collaboration with Trim AC are rolling out a 0-3k programme in Trim for the next 6 weeks.

This step by step guide to running is coach led and will start with more walking than jogging and slowly progress to more jogging than walking over a 6-week period.

The structured programme is available to anyone who wants to increase their daily activity and is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Specifically designed for complete beginners and those returning to running after an absence. Throw on those runners and join us, you won’t regret it!!

Starting Wednesday 12th October @ 7pm, meeting at Supermacs, Trim.

Active Women Circuits Dunboyne

This ‘Keep Fit/Tone Up’ programme is suitable for women who want to tone up and increase their fitness. The 4-week indoor body workout will strengthen and tone to help maintain a healthy body and mind. Using a variety of core and body strengthening exercises, this new class is suitable for women (18+) of all fitness levels, especially complete beginners. So, what are you waiting for – come on and give it a go!

Starting Friday 21st October @ 6pm in the Oak Centre, Dunboyne. Cost is €15 for 4 weeks.

Chair Pilates

Chair Pilates can help loosen and stretch muscles, reduce stress, and improve circulation—all from the comfort of your chair! If you struggle with flexibility, chair yoga is the class for you! The classes are a combination of breathing exercises with yoga poses which are all easy to replicate at home.

Cost is €20 for 6 weeks. Starting in Dunboyne Community Centre on 18th October at 10.30am.

Pickleball 

Pickleball is an adapted game of tennis, badminton and ping pong. Suitable for adults 55yrs+ of all abilities. Cost is €20 for 4 weeks.

  • Is played with a paddle bat and a plastic ball.
  • Can be played as doubles or singles.
  • Can be enjoyed by all ages and skill levels.

 

Starting on 27th October at 11am in Claremont Stadium, Navan.

Circuits for Over 50’s

Circuits for Over 50’s is a physical activity programme which includes exercises to improve strength, mobility and fitness. The programme for adults (50+) is circuit based i.e. there are 10 stations with body weight exercises and game based activities. The physical activity session will be led by a tutor for 1 hour per week. Cost is €30 for 6 weeks.

Starting on Wednesday 12th October at 11am in Claremont Stadium, Navan.

Run Jump Throw Programme

Run Jump Throw is a 6-week multi-activity programme suitable for children with Autism or an Intellectual Disability. The sessions will include a variety of sports, fun games and obstacle challenges all adapted to the participants needs. The programme aims to improve the participant’s fundamental movement skills and increase their confidence in participating in regular physical activity. The involvement of siblings is key to the success of the programme and their involvement when possible is encouraged.

Meath LSP aims to host a series of Run Jump Throw Programmes throughout the County. We currently have sessions taking place in Navan, Athboy, Dunboyne, Bettystown & Dunshaughlin throughout the week and participants can join in at any time.
