Rural Ideas Fora – Public Transport & Opportunities for Rural Ireland: 23rd August 2022
The Department of Rural and Community Development is continuing its series of online stakeholder engagement events, to discuss a number of important topics featured in ‘Our Rural Future – Rural Development Policy 2021-2025’.
The events will provide an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities that impact on rural communities and economies. Attendees will learn more about ongoing work relating to key objectives contained in the policy, and hear from a panel of key stakeholders.
The theme of our first event is: Public Transport and the Opportunities for Rural Ireland
With a third of Irish people living outside the cities and main towns, investment in our rural transport services and networks is crucial to ensuring the future development and prosperity of all parts of Ireland. In tandem, through various national level policies, the Department of Transport have strongly committed to improving public transport services in rural areas and to develop an integrated, accessible, and sustainable network of public transport offerings across Ireland. Join us at this iteration of the Rural Ideas Fora, as we explore the opportunities and challenges of implementing an enhanced regional public transport network for all across Ireland.
Our speakers for the event are:
- Tim Gaston – Director of Public Transport Services, National Transport Authority (NTA)
- Deirdre de Bhailís – Business Development Executive, Dingle Creativity and Innovation Hub
- Seamus Boland – CEO, Irish Rural Link
- Fiona O’Shea – TFI Local Link Manager, Donegal-Sligo-Leitrim
Registration is required and the number of participants is limited.
Please note the panel discussion will be recorded and made publicly available following the event.
