Meath County Council Library Service is encouraging people of all ages to visit their local library on National Public Libraries Open Day 2026, taking place on Saturday, 26 September, and discover the benefits of free library membership.

To celebrate National Public Libraries Open Day, Meath County Council Library Service will host a range of free family-friendly events across the county. Highlights include magic shows in Bettystown, Navan and Trim Libraries, while Dr Brain’s Fun-believable Science Show will entertain and inspire audiences in Ashbourne Library.

As part of the celebrations, every library in Meath will host a STEAM Saturday session, offering children and adults an opportunity to explore, create, play, and learn together. Library staff will also be available throughout the day to introduce visitors to the wide range of free clubs, events, services, and activities available to library members year-round, encouraging more people to discover everything their local library has to offer.

Libraries are welcoming spaces where people of all ages can discover new interests, learn new skills, connect with others and access a wide range of services and supports. From books and reading programmes to community activities, local history resources and learning opportunities, libraries offer something for everyone.
