Meath County Council’s Community Amenity Project Scheme

Grant scheme which provides financial assistance for capital projects such as the development of sporting, recreational, environmental, amenity, heritage and cultural facilities.

The minimum project application is €10,000 with a maximum project application of €100,000 per Municipal District per annum.

Eligible projects can include the following:

  • Community Amenity areas
  • Improvement to towns, parks / common areas and spaces
  • Development / renovation of Community Centres (excluding energy efficiency works)
  • Sports / Recreational facilities (excluding energy efficiency works)
  • Community arts and cultural projects
  • Heritage projects
  • Professional fees to a max of €3,000
  • Capital investment in community services.

Local Enhancement Programme 2026

The Local Enhancement Programme 2026 is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and allocated by Meath Local Community Development Committee (LCDC). The Local Enhancement Programme will support groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas.

The total allocation for Meath for 2026 is €222,535.73. This funding for the Local Enhancement Programme 2026 will support capital projects only, and will be used to towards carrying out necessary repairs and improvements to facilities, energy efficiency type projects, purchase of equipment etc.

Community Monuments Fund 2026

Meath County Council in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage are inviting applications for the Community Monuments Fund 2026. The grant scheme offers funding for the conservation, maintenance, protection and presentation of archaeological monuments.

Carranstown Environmental Projects Grant Scheme 2025

The Carranstown Environmental Projects grant is available to community groups for environmental improvement and recreational/ community facility projects in the vicinity of the Indaver Waste-to-Energy Facility at Carranstown, Duleek, Co Meath.

Community Water Development Fund 2026

The Community Water Development Fund is provided by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and administered by LAWPRO. This fund supports community groups to enhance the quality of local streams, rivers, lakes, and coastal areas.

Types of projects approved for funding include:

  • Awareness raising initiatives such as river clean ups, biodiversity information boards, citizen science workshops, outdoor classrooms, rainwater harvesting, and enhancement of wetlands.
  • Preparation of local plans such as feasibility studies, habitat management plans, ecological surveys, and biodiversity action plans.
  • River and habitat enhancement works such as planting of native species and hedgerow, pollinator friendly planting, river-bank stabilisation, fencing and riparian buffer zones.

1. Minimum grant award of €5,000 & Medium size €5000 to €25,000.
2. Maximum grant award of between €25,000 to €40,000 or more subject to procurement.

HSE National Lottery Grant Scheme

HSE National Lottery Grant Scheme will open for applications on Wednesday 14 January 2026. The grant funds one-off projects and services that improve the health and social care needs of communities.

Examples include funding to:

  • buy equipment and small fixtures and fittings like hoists, tables, and chairs
  • run camps, classes, courses, personal development training, information or activity events

Collaboration and Innovation Fund 2026: Adult Literacy for Life

The closing date for the fund is 12pm on Thursday 22 January 2026.

The Collaboration and Innovation Fund is a great opportunity to fund projects and activities that support adults with unmet literacy, numeracy, digital and financial literacy needs.

FUNDING ROUND ONE (1) of Ciste Spreagtha is NOW OPEN. Funding of up to €1,000 could be provided for one event or up to €5,000 for a series of events. Community groups are encouraged to apply for this funding to support the organisation of Irish language and bilingual events during Seachtain na Gaeilge 2026. Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme 2026

The Scheme aims to encourage communities, local organisations and other interested parties to become involved in the enhancement of their natural surrounding areas and to raise awareness.

  • €800,000 boost for peatlands and Natura sites available under the scheme
  • grants of up to €40,000 available for Natura 2000 designated sites
  • grants of up to €20,000 available for Non-Natura peatland sites

Community Heritage and Biodiversity Grant Scheme 2026: Waterways Ireland

A fund of €20,000 has been allocated to assist community-based projects which complement or fulfil the delivery of the Waterways Ireland Heritage and Biodiversity Plan 2030 along the Barrow Navigation, Erne System, Grand Canal, Lower Bann, Royal Canal, Shannon Navigation, Shannon-Erne Waterway, and the Ulster Canal (Upper Lough Erne to Clones).

Heritage Organisations Support Fund: Heritage Council

This fund supports core operational work, not standalone projects. It helps heritage organisations to remain stable, plan for the future, invest in staff and governance, and contribute to climate action and public benefit. All funded work should align with the goals of The Heritage Council’s Strategic Plan 2023-2028.
