Introduction to Coaching Basketball

Introduction to Basketball Coaching for club volunteers, parents and teachers. Taking place in Trim GAA on Saturday 22nd November from 9am – 3pm. 

Certified by Basketball Ireland. This course is designed for individuals interested in becoming a basketball coach, covering aspects from planning to evaluation. Cost €20 per person. Register HERE. 

Volunteers in Sport Awards – Coming soon!  

Launching this November, the Volunteers in Sport Awards return to celebrate the incredible people who make sport happen across Ireland.

From organising training sessions to keeping clubs running behind the scenes, volunteers are the heart of our communities. Now is your chance to recognise their dedication!

Nominations open from 12th November at Volunteers in Sport Awards 2025

Deadline: 15th December. 

These national awards celebrate the unsung heroes of sport. Each county will have one volunteer chosen. One individual will receive the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award.

We’re asking clubs and sporting organisations across Meath to share this opportunity and nominate the volunteers who make a difference every day.

Let’s celebrate the people who give their time so freely. Sport simply wouldn’t happen without them!

Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection Workshop

6th November or 17th November, 6.30pm-9.30pm, Zoom 

This workshop will highlight the measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people. This course is essential for anyone who is in contact with children in their club.

Cost: €25 per person for clubs in Meath, €40 per person for clubs outside Meath. Places are limited. To book a place, please call Lynn on 0873306715 or email loreilly@meathcoco.ie

Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer Workshop

12th November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom 

Every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. They act as the link between the children and the adults in the club. It is essential that those who wish to attend have completed Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness Training.

Shuttle Time Badminton Coaching Course

Shuttle Time Badminton Coaching course is designed to help teachers, coaches, and volunteers deliver fun, safe, and inclusive badminton activities to children aged 3-18yrs.

It provides accessible, easy-to-use lesson plans and resources, to develop kids’ fundamental sports skills and a positive image of badminton.

Social Running (0-3k & 3-5k) Programmes

Meath LSP are once again delighted to continue to partner with local athletic clubs to roll out of the 0-3k & 3-5k programmes. From this November the social running programmes will be available in Navan, Trim, Tara & Kells!

The 0-3k (Walk to Jog) is suitable for complete beginners and supports those to go from walking to jogging with relative ease. The structured programme is available for anyone who wants to increase their daily activity and is suitable for people of all ages (18+) and fitness levels.

The 3-5k Jog to Run is ideal for those who would like to improve running fitness and increase their pace & distance. This programme suits those who have already completed a 0-3k or have previous running experience.

All coaching sessions are delivered by qualified club coaches who are experienced runners and are on hand to guide and support everyone taking part.

Tara – meeting at Tara Sport Grounds, Ross Cross – Monday 10th November @ 6.30pm

Trim – meeting at Supermacs, Dublin Rd, Trim – Monday 10th November @ 7pm

Navan – meeting at Claremont Stadium – Monday 10th November @ 7pm

Kells – meeting at Fair Green, Kells –Monday 10th November @ 7pm

Volleyball for Women 

Come & Try Volleyball for Women 18+ in Coláiste na hÍnse, Bettystown for 6-weeks starting Wednesday 5th November at 7pm!

Led by a fully qualified coach, this easy to learn introduction to volleyball is fun, active and a great way to meet new people while keeping fit. Cost €20 for 6 weeks. Suitable for beginners and improvers.

Mature Movers

Mature Movers returns this November in Kells, Trim, Navan, and Athboy. Join us for a class near you!

Active Social Morning

Our Active Social Mornings are designed for adults 50+ who would love to be active or stay active in a relaxed social environment. Activities include, boccia, Kurling, Cornhole and Pickleball.

Location: Simonstown GFC – Tuesday 18th November at 11am.

Learn 2 Cycle Navan

Learn 2 Cycle aims to assist children with a disability to cycle independently. This programme which is held over 6 weeks outdoors focuses on empowering parents and giving them the tools to support their child in learning to cycle. Participants will be guided by our experienced tutor from the Cycling Safety School.

SportUile Office Opening and Social Media Launch

October saw the official opening of the SportUile Programme Office and launch of the SportUile Facebook page. SportUile is a joint programme between Meath LSP and Louth LSP, with the aim of driving change through sport in Drogheda and East Meath. The new office at Lourdes Stadium in Drogheda, provides a base for the SportUile staff to develop and deliver programmes for the communities in the area.
