Meath County Council have commissioned Research and Dig and 7L Arhcitects to assist them in the creation of a Conservation Plan for Athboy’s Medieval Town Walls.

We are at the very start of the plan making process and really want to hear from those living and working in Athboy about how this important monument should be cared for and its story told.

As part of the stakeholder engagement process we are running two walking tours for the community. During each tour we will talk about the route of the walls, the conservation of unstanding remains, management of archaeology, and how the walls are presented.

The walking tours will take 2 hours and cover 2.5km. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Unfortunately, sections of the tour are not fully wheelchair accessible.

The tours will begin outside Athboy Library and end on Main St.
