Meath Climate Action Month 2025: Key Events

Over 25 events have been planned by Meath County Council commencing on Friday, 19th September, and running until Thursday, 23rd October, for Climate Action Month 2025.

The schedule for Climate Action Month 2025 includes energy and information clinics, Eco Chic clothes swaps, green business networking events, beach cleans, and a cooking course with Catherine Fulvio designed to help eliminate food waste, in addition to many other events.

EcoChic:

EcoChic is back! With a wide range of events, combining swap shops and workshops to raise awareness on the impacts of fast fashion and textile waste and demonstrate how you can be more sustainable with your clothing.

Clothing Swaps

Bring any unwanted clothing and swap it for something you like. We’ll accept a maximum of 15 items per person. You’ll be given tokens based on what you bring, which you can use to swap for other items available.

Accepting at Clothes Swaps:

Clean wearable clothing and accessories.

Not Accepting at Clothes Swaps:

Shoes, Underwear, swimwear, bedding, jewellery/piercings

Note: Last acceptance of clothing to the swap will be 30 minutes before the event is due to end.

Sewing & Upcycling Workshops

Please note that you will need to bring your own sewing machine to the ‘Introduction to Sewing: Get to know your Machine Workshop’.

For the Sashiko Denim Repair workshops you’re invited to bring your own denim piece to repair but please note denim will also be available on the day.

For the upcycled fabric jewellery workshop you are also advised to bring an old T-Shirt that you can upcycle.

For the remaining upcycling workshops you’re also advised to bring a piece of clothing that you’d like to upcycle and repurpose but spare pieces will be available on the day!

Please note all workshops are running simultaneously so you are advised to book one workshop only that you would like to attend.

All events are free to attend but please book in advance as spaces are limited.

Bettystown Beach Ecology Talk:

Sand dunes are a vital part of our ecosystems and are critically important for both nature and people.

Kate Harrington will explore how sand dune systems create dynamic and unique habitats, highlight some of the species that call the dunes home, examine the pressures and threats that put these ecosystems at risk, and share how local communities can play a vital role in their conservation.

Cooking with Catherine Fulvio – Love Your Food

Catherine believes in batch cooking as a strategy to save time, reduce food waste, and make healthy eating more accessible, particularly for busy individuals, families and working parents. This event will provide you with hot tips on meal prepping, using fresh ingredients, and safely storing and using leftovers to create a variety of nutritious meals. Her approach emphasises planning ahead to have delicious, home-cooked meals readily available throughout the week.

There will be 2 events, one at 3pm and one at 7pm on Wednesday 15th October. Tickets are free and are limited to 2 per person.  Please don’t book if you are not sure you can attend as places are limited.

Repair Café with Sam Agus Nessa

Come along to our furniture repair café, hosted by the award-winning, Kildare-based designers, Sam Agus Nessa.

Bring along a small – medium piece of furniture to get advice on how to repair and to make any quick repairs on the day. 

You can also bring along photos of larger pieces to get repair advice.

No booking required, it’s first-come, first-served.
