Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme 2024/25: now open for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for projects

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has launched the 2024/2025 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.

The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme provides funding for the development of new and existing outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas.

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has launched the 2024/2025 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.

 The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) will see the development of natural amenities such as Ireland’s mountains, lakes, rivers, beaches, bogs, walkways, greenways and blueways.

Meath County Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for projects under the following headings:

Application forms and scheme details are below.

  • Project Development Measure – Grant amount up to €50,000 for development costs for strategic large-scale projects
  • Measure 1 – Grant amount up to €40,000 for small scale repair/development/promotion and marketing

Application forms to be submitted to the Rural Regeneration Section at  ruralregeneration@meathcoco.ie

Closing Date: 5pm Thursday 19th December 2024.

  • Measure 2 – Grant amount up to €200,00 for medium scale repair/upgrade and new trail/amenity development
  • Measure 3 – Grant amount up to €500,000 for strategic large-scale repair/upgrade and new strategic trail/amenity development projects

As set out in the scheme details, projects with evidence of strong community engagement will be prioritised. 

As in previous years, the scheme does not include sporting activities which take place in the countryside on confined courses or pitches specifically designed and constructed for those events e.g., golf, football, show jumping or motorised activities such as quads/scramblers.
