HER Outdoors Week
HER Outdoors returns from 12th–18th August. Meath LSP are hosting some fabulous outdoor events for women and girls every day of the Her Outdoors Week with activities available for girls, teens, women 18+ and women 55+!
The aim of HER Outdoors week is to celebrate and encourage more females to get out and enjoy the benefits of being outdoors.
There’s something for all ages! Check out events available and come and try something new! There are still some places left on the following events – don’t miss out!
Cycle Cross for Girls (13-17yrs) – Monday 12th August at 6pm, Blackwater Park, Navan
This event is led by Navan Road Club for Girls 13-17yrs to try off road cycling in a safe, inclusive environment. Ideal for beginners and also those with previous experience. All equipment is required. To register or for more information click HERE.
Orienteering for Families, Carlanstown – Tuesday 13th August at 6-8pm
This event is led by Orienteering Ireland and is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with previous experience. The instructor will cover map reading, games and also virtual orienteering using MapRun and mobile devices.

Come and Try Archery – Wednesday 14th August at 7-8.30pm
Athboy Archery is hosting a ‘Come and Try Archery’ in An Tobar, Navan, C15XD6H. This initiative is open to women and girls of all ages and abilities! This is a fantastic opportunity to try a new sport and broaden your experience of outdoors activities! Places are limited so early booking is advised. To register email athboyarcheryclub@yahoo.com
Inclusive Canoeing for Mothers & Girls – Thursday 15th August at 7pm, Ribbontail Paddlers Canoe Club, Longwood

Pétanque for Women 50+ – Thursday 15th August, 11am, Mornington Heights
Pétanque is an adapted game of Boules which can be played on any surface. This is an accessible game suitable for all abilities. Includes tea & coffee afterwards. Register HERE

Women’s Social Cycle on the Boyne Greenway – Saturday 17th August @9.30am
This event will include a Bike Safety check along with coffee and a snack. Meeting at PARK BEO Greenway Services Hub Wilkinstown and cycling 20k led by qualified Bike Ride Leaders! Register HERE.
Badminton Summer Camp for Girls (12-17yrs)
Meath LSP are delighted to collaborate with Badminton Ireland for an all-female teenage summer Badminton Camp for girls aged between 12-17 years of age!
The Badminton Camp will take place over 4 days from 12th–15th August from 10am–12.30pm in Claremont Stadium, Navan. Cost for 4-day camp is €40 and all equipment is provided. PLACES ARE LIMITED so early booking is advised.

Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection Workshop
11th September OR 23rd September | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom
This workshop will highlight the measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people. This course is essential for anyone who is in contact with children in their club.

Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer Workshop
16th September OR 22nd October | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom
Every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. They act as the link between the children and the adults in the club. It is essential that those who wish to attend have completed Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness Training.

Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Workshop
19th September OR 21st November | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom (ONLINE)
Every club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person.
It is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Child Welfare & Protection Workshop.

Sports Injuries First Aid Workshop
24th September | 6.30pm-10pm | MDL, Trim Road, Navan
This Sports Injuries First Aid Course is aimed at coaches, mentors, teachers, supervisors, players, athletes and volunteers or anyone wishing to be able to deal with minor sports injuries.
This course covers a comprehensive range of topics to prepare participants to administer First Aid care. Participants will learn practical skills so that they can deal competently with situations that may arise. On successful completion of the course, participants are issued with a First Aid Certificate of attendance.

Social Pétanque for Adults 50+
Social Pétanque groups are now up and running in Navan and Bettystown! Groups meet in Blackwater Park, Navan on Mondays at 11am & Bettystown beach on Wednesdays at 11am.

Learn 2 Cycle Bettystown
Learn 2 Cycle aims to assist children with a disability to cycle independently. This programme which is held over 6 weeks outdoors focuses on empowering parents and giving them the tools to support their child in learning to cycle. Participants will be guided by our experienced tutor from the Cycling Safety School.

Inclusive Teenage Summer Camp
Inclusive Multi-Sport Summer Camp suitable for teenagers with additional needs aged 13-17 years.
The camps will take place outdoors over two days and will see a variety of sports and activities take place including GAA, Soccer, Badminton, Hockey & Basketball.We encourage participants’ siblings to join in the activities also. All parents will be asked to remain for the duration of each day.
Date: Tuesday August 13th – Wednesday August 14th
Time: 11am- 1pm
Venue: Meath & District League Grounds Navan
