Health Quality Mark awarded
Cork Foyer and Finglas Youth Resource were awarded Health Quality Marks (HQM) by the National Youth Council of Ireland in recognition of their work on health promotion for young people.

Youth homelessness: NYCI responds to 128% rise since Government assumed office
The latest figures for February show that the number of people aged 18-24 accessing emergency accommodation in Ireland has more than doubled since this Government took office in June 2020, and compared to February last year there has been a 14% increase. We urge the Government and the incoming Taoiseach Simon Harris to make reversing the drastic rise in youth homelessness a top priority.

Closure of British Youth Council
NYCI acknowledges with deep regret the announcement of the closure of the British Youth Council (BYC) after more than seven decades of invaluable service to young people’s representation and advocacy in the UK and internationally. The NYCI and the BYC have shared a longstanding partnership, united in our commitment to amplifying the voices of the young and advocating for their rights at every level of society. The closure of the BYC is not just a loss for the UK but is felt deeply by us in Ireland and by our peers across the globe who have been inspired by their work.

Providing holistic, person-centred Coaching to enable a person to become an independent jobseeker or employee. Funded by the Dormant Accounts Fund and administered through Pobal, Ability is a free employability and job-seeking skills programme for people, aged 18 and over with a physical disability who want to get closer to employment and progress on their career journey.

Foróige: Launch of “Building Children’s Futures” Report
Foróige and leading children’s advocacy organisations across Ireland joined together on 28th Feb to mark the launch of Building Children’s Future’s: Using Children’s Rights to Recover from the Global Pandemic. The newly published report explores how key decisions made in Ireland during the Covid-19 pandemic impacted children’s and young people’s lives.

April is Autism Acceptance Month and AsIAm has a full calendar of events lined up, including their Same Chance walk in Belmont and Dublin’s first-ever Neurodiversity Festival.

Gaisce: Breath of Fresh Éire
Breath of Fresh Éire, a ground-breaking art collaboration between Gaisce – The President’s Award, Oberstown Children Detention Campus and An Garda Síochána Balbriggan was officially launched on Thursday March 28th. Breath of Fresh Éire consists of three art installations, created by the young people of Oberstown and overseen by artist Joe Caslin.
