Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness in Child Protection Workshop
14th March OR 30th March | 6.30pm-9.30pm | Zoom
This workshop will highlight the measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people. This course is essential for anyone who is in contact with children in their club.

Coaching Children Workshops
These Coaching Children workshops are specifically designed to provide participants with a basic understanding of children’s sport and physical activity and the best way best optimise children’s enjoyment, participation and positive outcomes!
- Workshop 1: Thursday 9th February 6:30pm – 9:30pm (Zoom)
- Workshop 2: Thursday 16th February 6:30pm – 9:30pm (Zoom)
- Workshop 3 & 4: Saturday 18th February 9:30am – 3:30pm (Venue TBC).

Physical Literacy Workshop
Meath LSP have partnered with Sport Ireland Coaching to host an online Physical Literacy Workshop on Thursday 23rd February, 6.30pm-9.30pm online via Zoom. This workshop offers participants the chance to learn more about why physical activity is so important to children and how we can do more to encourage it!
This module is an interactive 3 hour workshop which will enable participants to understand the following:
- Importance of physical activity for children
- What is meant by the physical literacy learning journey
- Rationale behind the physical literacy journey – ‘Road Map’ that can be used by anyone who guides children along their physical literacy learning journey
- How can one contribute to its development in the children and young people with whom they interact at home and in the community
- Organise safe, purposeful and meaningful physical activities for all children

Bike Ride Leader Course
Cycling Ireland Bike Ride Leader training will provide leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively lead and manage a group of cyclists on the road in club/group cycles.
Taking place Saturday 25th February, 9.30am-5.30pm in Scoil Naomh Eoin, Navan.
Cost: €60 for Cycling Ireland Members / €70 for Non Cycling Ireland Members.

Coaching Teenage Girls Workshop
Meath LSP are hosting the popular Coaching Teenage Girls in Sport Workshop on Thursday 9th March, 6-9pm online via Zoom!
The 3-hour workshop is designed specifically to support coaches/parents of girls aged 12-17 years of age! The training is developed to enable coaches/parents to create a positive experience of sport & physical activity for girls in their formative years and provide an environment where girls & young women can develop holistically.
The workshop will focus on:
- Keeping teenage girls playing sport
- The needs of teen girls in sport today
- Maturation, body image & sport
- Communication and social skills

Activator Poles Walking
Activator Pole walking is a FitWalk Ireland programme which focuses on promoting long term fitness and independence through increasing balance and functionality.
Meath LSP coordinate the programme locally in Meath and skilled tutors teach participants how to safely and effectively use the Activator Poles to aid their walking, strength and balance. The programme is suitable to all levels of fitness – each week the tutor will assist participants in use of the activator poles to increase strength and improve mobility.
What are the benefits of Activator Pole walking?
- Improves stability
- Reduces impact on hips/knees
- Improve strength, aerobic fitness, balance & range of motion
- Improve posture
- Promotes better gait pattern
Cost is €25 for 6 weeks.

Circuits for Over 50’s
Circuits for Over 50’s is a physical activity programme for adults which includes exercises to improve strength, mobility and fitness. The programme is aimed at adults that are mobile and want to participate in activity that will improve their fitness.
The programme for adults (50+) is circuit based i.e. there is 10 stations with body weight exercises. The physical activity session will be led by a tutor for 1 hour per week. Cost: €30 for 6 weeks.

Learn 2 Cycle Navan
Learn 2 Cycle aims to assist children aged 5-17 years with a disability to cycle independently. This programme which is held over 6 weeks focuses on empowering parents and giving them the tools to support their child in learning to cycle. Participants will be guided by our experienced tutor from the Cycling Safety School.
Date: Thursdays March 23rd – April 27th
Venue: Claremont Stadium Navan
Time: 4:30pm-5:30pm
Duration: 6 weeks

Run Jump Throw
The Run Jump Throw programme ran over 6 weeks is aimed at children with Autism / Intellectual disability aged 5-12 years. The sessions will include a variety of sports, fun games and obstacle challenges all adapted to the participants needs. The programme aims to improve the participant’s fundamental movement skills and increase their confidence in participating in regular physical activity.
The programme is held in the following areas in Meath:
- Navan
- Athboy
- Bettystown
- Dunboyne
- Dunshaughlin
- Ashbourne

Royal Rockets Junior Wheelchair Sports Club
Royal Rockets a Multi-Sport club for children with a physical disability aged 5-16 years. The clubs primary aim is to give physical activity opportunities to children with a disability by enabling them to be part of this supportive group. The club members alongside their families are involved in a variety of activities weekly.
