Introduction of the National Meals on Wheels Network Development Officer.

The National Meals on Wheels Network was established in 2015 under the umbrella of Irish Rural Link.

The network website and interactive map were both launched in September 2021 in Portlaw, Co. Waterford by Minister Mary Butler, Minister of State for Older People. mealsonwheelsnetwork.ie 

The map enables service users and their families to identify the nearest meals on wheels provider to them but also highlights the gaps that exist in certain areas of the country.

Meals on Wheels is a critical component of the continuum of care services that enables older and vulnerable people to remain living in the community or to return to their own homes after hospitalization.

Our vision is of a fully supported Meals on Wheels system providing community led services dedicated to meeting the nutritional and social needs of older and vulnerable people to enable them live independently
