The Understand Together team want to continue to support the communities in their on-going work and are providing a free on line communications workshop for communities.

The aim of this workshop is to help and support you to do your own local PR.

This could include how to get in touch with local media, how to prepare for a radio interview or how you might get an article or picture about an event included in your local paper.

This workshop will aim to cover the following topics:

• The media in your area
• What to approach the media with – identifying news
• When to approach the media (media deadlines and timelines)
• Writing a press release
• Organising a photograph
• Identifying spokespeople
• Undertaking interviews
