Meath Retrofit Truck 2026: Homeowners Training Programme – 7th & 9th April

Are you interested in reducing your energy bills, lowering your carbon footprint, or simply making your home warmer?

Join us at Buvinda House on 7 and 9 April for courses delivered by The National Construction Training Campus, Mount Lucas, and held on their Retrofit Truck. Delivery is supported by demonstrations within the NZEB Mobile Training Rig.

This 2½-hour, NCFE Certified course is designed to support homeowners, community groups, and public-facing initiatives in better understanding home energy upgrades and retrofit pathways.

The programme focuses on practical, accessible information, enabling participants to make informed decisions about improving energy performance, comfort, and sustainability in existing homes.

Retrofit for Homeowners: NCFE CertifiedProgramme Overview

The Retrofit for Homeowners programme is designed to support homeowners, community groups and public-facing initiatives to better understand home energy upgrades and retrofit pathways.

The programme focuses on practical, accessible information, enabling participants to make informed decisions about improving energy performance, comfort and sustainability in existing homes.

Delivery is supported by demonstrations within the  NZEB Mobile Training Rig.

Key Areas Covered

Participants will gain an understanding of:

  • What Retrofit Is
    Retrofit as a comfort, energy efficiency and sustainability standard.
  • Understanding the BER Report
    BER ratings, advisory reports and how they inform retrofit decisions.
  • Typical Retrofit Measures
    Insulation upgrades, windows and doors, ventilation strategies, airtightness and heating system improvements.
  • Energy Efficiency & Comfort
    Heat loss, thermal bridging, indoor air quality and moisture control.
  • Renewable Energy Options
    Heat pumps, solar PV and integration with fabric-first upgrades.
  • Grant Pathways & Supports
    Overview of SEAI schemes including:
    • Individual Energy Upgrade Grants
    • One Stop Shop Service
    • Fully Funded Energy Upgrades (Warmer Homes)
