Amuigh faoin Speir Biodiversity Fund

Our An Choill Bheag workshops continued this month in very mucky conditions at Moynalty NS, but that didn’t stop the learning or the enthusiasm!

Students and teachers got hands-on with soil testing, plant identification, and tree mapping, all of which will guide the planting of up to 200 new trees on the school grounds. Further workshops will take place in 2026 in four different locations – Kilmainhamwood NS, St. Patrick’s NS Slane, Moynalty NS and Gaelscoil an Bhradain Feasa.

Huge thanks to Learning about Ecosystems and Forests – LEAF Ireland and An Taisce – The National Trust for Ireland for delivering these engaging, practical workshops. The skills gained will help participants monitor, maintain, and appreciate these essential mini woodland ecosystems for years to come.

This programme also supports our Participation Nation Fund biodiversity commitments, helping to balance the installation of the five new 3×3 basketball courts across Meath.

Meath LSP would like to wish you a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
