As part of the EirGrid Kildare Meath Grid Upgrade, a Community Benefit Fund of €4,610,000 has been established to support local community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and social enterprises operating within 2km of the new electricity infrastructure. The aim is to deliver projects that create positive social and environmental impacts across the region.

M-CO, who are administering the Fund, are inviting local community and voluntary groups, individuals, and stakeholders to take part in a consultation process to explore the needs and priorities of the area — helping ensure the Fund is designed for the local community, by the local community.

We would greatly appreciate your help in sharing the details of our upcoming community workshops through your networks to encourage participation.

About the Kildare Meath Grid Upgrade Project Route

This project will add a high-capacity 400 kV underground electricity connection between Dunstown substation in Kildare and Woodland substation in Meath. More information on the project route can be found on EirGrid’s website here.

About the Fund

The Kildare Meath Community Benefit Fund will provide €4,610,000 in grants to local community groups, not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises that operate or service communities within 2km of this new electricity infrastructure, and who can deliver projects that will create positive social and environmental impacts. The overall aim of the fund will be to increase public and environmental wellbeing in the community and to leave a positive legacy.

Thank you for your support in helping shape the Community Benefit Fund for Kildare and Meath. If you have any questions, please contact us at communitybenefitfund@mco.ie
