Irish Refugee Advisory Board: recruiting new members – closing date 4th August 2025

Are you a refugee interested in advocating for your rights and the rights of refugees living in Ireland? Are you interested in deepening and broadening your knowledge and expertise for advocacy on asylum, inclusion and integration? Are you a beneficiary of temporary protection, or hold refugee status or subsidiary protection in Ireland?
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is looking for 7 passionate individuals to join our Refugee Advisory Board for a period of one year with the possibility for extension for up to 3 years. This is a voluntary and unpaid position, ideal for someone who wants to contribute their time, skills, and voice towards change.
The Refugee Advisory Board is a dedicated team working to uplift and empower refugee voices through advocacy, lived experience leadership, and community driven solutions.
The new members will join 5 existing members to work closely with UNHCR to create a space where refugee communities actively take part and shape national policy and local community decisions which affect them.
As a Board member you will be required to:
- Attend Board meetings at regular intervals
- Support with organisation of consultations and events
- You will also be encouraged to contribute to public facing events or speak to media
We especially welcome applicants with experiences in the following areas:
- Social media and communication
- Fundraising and grants applications
- Administration and organisation
