Operation Transformation National Walks 2019

 Meath Local Sports Partnership and Sport Ireland have linked up with the OT team to promote National Walk Day on Saturday 12th January.

Organisers welcome all ages and abilities along on the day and would like to see families getting involved. The event is ideal for beginners to come out and give it a go. Children must be accompanied by an adult. In the interest of safety and out of respect to other walkers, dogs are not allowed.

There are a number of walks happening across the county on the day – check out walks below for one that suits you:

  • Nobber: meet at Nobber amenity park/National School at 30am.
  • Kilmainhamwood: meet at Kilmainhamwood GAA at 30am.
  • Trim: meet in front of the castle at
  • Carnaross: meet at Carnaross Community Hall at
  • Duleek: meet at Duleek village green at
  • Ratoath: meet at Ratoath GAA at
  • Athboy: meet at Clann Na Gael GAA at
  • Castletown: meet at Castletown Pitch & Putt at
  • Fordstown: meet at Girley Hall at
  • Ashbourne: Meet at Ashbourne Garda Station at
  • Oldcastle/Ballinacree: meet at St. Brigid’s GFC Oldcastle at 11am (registration from 10am).

Participants are also welcome to join Parkrun on the day. Parkrun is a free 5km timed course which takes place every Saturday at 9.30am in the following locations in Meath:

  • Oldbridge (meet at Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre, Drogheda)
  • Blackwater Park, Navan
  • NEW LOCATION – Deerpark, Carlanstown

Parkrun is suitable for walkers, joggers and runners of all ages! You will need to register for FREE at www.parkrun.ie before attending!

Following on from the National Walk Day, a number of areas are planning weekly walks in their locality to coincide with the 8 Week Operation Transformation programme.

Men on the Move

Men on the Move will start on Thursday 3rd January at 7.30pm in Claremont Stadium, Navan. This programme is open to all men regardless of fitness level!
