Kells Kick Start Initiative – Solving our own problems: a weekend of generating ideas

Kells has been selected as the pilot town for the Irish Walled Town Network (IWTN) ‘Kick Start Initiative’ (funded and facilitated by the Heritage Council). As part of the initiative a two day town specific regeneration seminar will take place on November 24th and 25th 2017.

Five mentors will help the people of Kells come up with sustainable answers to the town’s social and economic challenges. Solving our own problems builds upon the successful Bigger Picture Conferences organised by Kells Local Heroes – Kells Workshop

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Cornelia McCarthy – Artist liaison with Kilkenny Arts Festival and independent project manager
  • David Fitzsimons – CEO, Retail Excellence Ireland
  • Liam Mannix – Project Manager, Irish Walled Towns Network
  • Margaret Egan – Managing Director, Áit Urbanism and Landscape
  • Mary King – Policy and Planning Officer, Fáilte Ireland

After the weekend a report on the seminar will be completed and issued to the council.

I hope that you can make it along to this event.
