NEW COMMUNITY FOOD CLOUD UNDERWAY –

We are delighted to announce that we are currently registering with Food Cloud Ireland to establish a Community Food Cloud.  Many thanks goes to the ongoing support from local volunteers, Trim Parish and St. Vincent’s De Paul to get the initiative up and running.  Trim Food Cloud is due to start in October when Aldi and LIDL come on board with Food Cloud Ireland.  At the moment we are seeking support of business in the town to donate equipment and facilities such as Fridge, Freezer, 8ft x 6ft Portacabin and a storage cupboard.

The initiative will bring much needed food supplies for local families as well as achieving the objective of reducing food waste that happens in our local supermarkets.  At the     moment there is no registration to the Food Cloud open but we will be keeping you up on when that will happen.

What is a Food Cloud?  Food Cloud is a social enterprise    initiative set up to reduce the amount of food waste by supermarkets.  Food cloud nationally partnered with Tesco and Aldi to provide food to local charities that they haven’t sold.  Through the Food Cloud platform registered local    charities are notified and they can collect the food for re-distribution in the community.
